It is imperative to have physical barriers in place wherever they are present. Laser radiation must be prevented from escaping through the windows of laboratories, production facilities and hospital operating/procedure rooms that use lasers. Ordinary window blinds are incapable of stopping typical high powered lasers used in industry and medical applications. Laser blocking blinds are needed to protect staff and those passing by. RT Technologies provides approved laser blinds for medical use and for optical laser safety, including laser blinds for hospitals, operating room laser blinds, and operating room blackout blinds. Our laser blocking blinds use medical grade laser blocking material. We also offer laser blocking curtains which can be made with magnets, Velcro, or turn buttons. Encapsulated Roller Blinds Our Laser Safety Encapsulated Roller Blinds use the same laser-blocking material as the laser curtains. The roller blind has a white finish aluminum frame. It encapsulates the top, and both edges of the blind. As a result, the encapsulated laser blocking blind eliminates any possibility of laser beams passing around the sides of the blind, blocks out direct light (not blackout), and provides optimal protection. There is also an option for X-ray shielded vision panels Tested in accordance with Laser safety standard IEC 60825-4 and designed to fit into window and door openings in operating rooms, this highly effective and professional laser blocking system is ideal for hospitals and other facilities where there is a need to guard against the escape of laser beams. The unit can be installed as a standard fit within the door or window aperture or it can be fitted as a flush fit where the surfaces of the unit match those of the aperture edges. A simple lever operates the slats within the window to either allow or block laser light from penetrating. Selecting the double sided lever option enables the blind to be operated from both sides. The system uses 0.24 inch toughened glass in front of the slatted blind to prevent the ingress of dust and infection. There is an option for a motorized version that can be controlled through an interlock control system. The standard fit unit is a fully bonded, semi-hermetic unit that eliminates the need for an unhygienic, metal housing and allows a tight seal to be made between the glass and the beading. It can be positioned either centrally across the door thickness, with a bead either side, or flush on one side with a single bead on the other. It comprises of three panes of glass, two of which have alternating lines of laser blocking material. The central pane can be raised and lowered by a handle so the lines move in or out of alignment and thereby allow fully controlled, discreet vision through the panel. The flush fit vision pane l is specifically designed and manufactured to suit the exact thickness of a door, so once fitted, the surface of the glazing lies completely flush with the door faces. It is sealed to the door with silicone mastic, thus providing a very hygienic detail that has no crevices or ledges for dirt or bacteria to harbour. The flush fit unit is fully bonded and is semi-hermetic comprising four panes of glass, two of which have alternating lines of laser blocking material. They can also be used as stand-alone shutters for manual or remote switching of the beam. These shutters are available as OEM components for laser or laser product manufacturers. Opening of any laboratory door without use of the override will result in the shutter closing, thus preventing unprotected persons from being exposed to the laser radiation. The shutter is fail safe and gravity fed. Loss of power will cause the shutter to close without reliance on springs or any other device. High quality engineering design ensures smooth and reliable operation. Contact Us LS 10-12 and 100-12 Shutter Specifications Operating Voltage All shutters work from 12 VDC (11 – 14 VDC). However, if your supply is 18, 24 VDC or similar, request the LS voltage converter (part no.LS-VC-24.12) which enables operation from 15 – 35 VDC. Operating Logic The shutters will not open unless power is supplied. When power is supplied a yellow LED lights to indicate that power is present. A green LED will also light indicating that the shutter is fully closed. To open the shutter, the green button must be pressed. The green LED will go out and an orange LED will light indicating that the shutter is fully open. The shutter can be closed by pressing the red button or by cutting the power. Contact Us

This wall or desk mountable unit has a clear visual indication of the sign state, including an LED at the end of the switch toggle which lights up the color of the sign. Custom laser curtains and products are needed as a solution. Designed for use in industry, medical facilities, hospitals and operating rooms, our laser blocking curtains are made from specially-developed laser-blocking material. Medical or industrial laser blocking curtains can be supplied ready-made as ceiling or wall-mounted curtains. The laser blocking material provides ‘World Class’ laser blocking capability while being extremely light weight and flexible, ideal for everything from industrial laser curtains to operating room laser curtains. The material is white on one side and black on the other side and will operate as a blackout screen as well as a laser-blocking screen. Both sides will block laser radiation but if the white side is used as the laser-blocking side, a higher specification of blocking will be achieved — making it suitable for higher power lasers. Tested in accordance with NFP92-503 (Electrical Burner Test), the material is rated as M2. When irradiated with greater than 35 w/cm² it will emit a non-hazardous smoke and may glow, thus indicating that a stray beam is present. Protection times given by the material at various power densities are shown in the specifications below. The top of the curtain has brass eyelets (as seen in the picture on the right) every 6 inches and the curtain is supplied with a stainless steel hook for connecting to a curtain track. It is housed in a similar unit to the ICS-5, which is the most popular Laser Interlock Control System designed and manufactured by Lasermet, but the expandable ICS-6 has, as one of its options, remote monitoring. This compact, versatile unit can control laser interlocks, door locks, illuminated warning signs and other equipment. It can operate beam shutters and the laser power with feedback monitoring and fault detection. It can be interfaced to Access Control and Fire Detection Systems and is fitted with an Override to allow controlled access through interlocked doors while also accepting emergency stop inputs. The ICS-6 provides even higher levels of safety and functionality and has full start-to-end dual channel architecture and fault detection to meet the latest standards. It has a simple, easy-to-use control panel which can be wired directly to 4 interlocks or groups of interlocks.
