Frequently asked questions about our laser safety products and LED signs. What is the expected coverage area per gallon? Coverage is dependent on surface type, concrete will require more than the same area of steel. Our solutions are water based therefore one gallon of our solution would cover the same amount as a gallon of water. Can you provide a square foot number for steel and concrete? For steel assuming 6ml/sq ft, 450 to 600. Concrete assuming 12ml/ sq ft 200 to 300 or less depending on porosity What is the expected handling of the waste stream? If our solution is used to remove radioactive material the solution will become radioactive and should be handled as such This question is geared towards hazardous materials other than radioactive waste. Can we assume the answer is the solution is not hazardous material on it’s on? The solution is not hazardous on it's ow If the material it is used on is non hazardous is the stream still non hazardous? If the solution picks up radioactive material it may become hazardous. How many Ion Exchange Equivalents of cation and anion is required if the effluent is sent through Ion exchanger? Let’s assume contamination is Cs 137 and Co 60 at 450 uCi/100 cm2. Cs-137, assume specific activity of 87 Ci/g, 450 uCi = approx. 0.000074 mEq. Co-60, assume specific activity of 1150 Ci/g. 450 uCi = approx. 7.6 E-7 mEq. Assume resin capacity of 1 mEq / g . Most resins vary between 2 and 4 mEq / g. Effectiveness of the resin depends on the construction of the column, operating pressure, contamination with non radioactive metals (especially Iron), channeling, etc. Considering all the different factors, the column size should be appropriate for the flow rate desired avoiding excess pressure Can I evaporate the solution down rather than running it through IX? As long as the contamination is not volatile. Has solidification of solution been reviewed? No What’s the second, third, multiple Dfs? Lets assume Cs 137 and Co 60 with surfaces of steel and concrete. First decontamination factor is up-to 100% (varies from 20 to 100%) Second and third applications each remove 10 to 20% of remaining activity. A fourth application is usually ineffective. What is the depth of adsorption? Same as water. What is the amount of bleed back/appearance out of material adsorption? Lets assume stainless steel and concrete Stainless steel virtually non. Concrete up-to 20% depending on porosity What is optimal amount of time following application should second application occur? Reapplication can occur immediately. What substrates have you tried? Stainless steel, painted steel, aluminum various forms and finishes, concrete, wood painted and unfinished, various plastics, etc How much water is required for rewetting? Same volume as initially used minimum. How much liquid is required for removal? Let us assume steel and concrete are the surfaces to be doncontaminated Steel, the decontamination solution can be wiped off and the surface rinsed with an equal volume of de-ionized water. Concrete will require more depending on rinse procedure and pick up ( wet vacuum?).

The Quick Decon Actinides & Transition Metals solutions are the world’s most effective solution for radiation decontamination of radioactive surfaces including human skin. Radiation Decontamination Solutions The Quick Decon Transition Metals (TM), Actinides (A), and Halogens (H) solutions are the world’s most effective and safest solutions for radiation decontamination of radioactive surfaces including human skin . These solutions were developed by a combination of nuclear pharmacists, nuclear chemists, radiation experts, and NASA consultants with many years of experience in the nuclear and medical device industry. They have succeeded in the goal to develop a formula that would safely and significantly remove radioactive material from human skin and on other surfaces in the event of a nuclear event. Radioactive contamination poses several cleanup problems including the following: the safety of cleanup personnel, control of waste volume, and end-state contamination level. In an effort to address these problems, we have investigated the use of ion-exchange resin preparation technology to treat contaminated surfaces. These products reduce cleanup time; control waste volume and leave the surface in a state where minimal radioactive contamination is present. Get a Quote Products Quick Decon Solutions The Quick Decon Solution (QDS) family of products can significantly reduce time and personal dose associated with ALL decontamination efforts and tasks The core technology is called the "Mass Effect" influence. When our proprietary solutions are introduced to a contaminated surface, the radioac tive material is lifted from the surface and suspended in the solution, where it can be easily wiped up or rinsed away as radioactive waste. Spray on, let solution penetra te for 1-5 m ins, and th en wipe down or rinse off. Our products are currently in use in commercial waste facilities and in hospitals, with a proven track record of significantly reducing time and dose on critical path applications such as Cavity Decon. Quick Decon Complete (QD-C) comes in powder form. You can mix with water and make custom amounts of e decon solution. The QDS TM GEL is extremely desirable to use for Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) RX Cavity cleaning and use in general at NPP’s because of its unique ability to remove the radioactive contaminants from solution WITHOUT binding or affecting the resin binding sites. The Decon GEL has NO Ionics (available free radicals) and contains no detergents and thus is ‘inert’ to the resin materials. Therefore, the active ‘sites’ for the Rad Waste resins are left uncompromised/unused and available to filter out the targeted contaminants from the RCS, etc. For the above reasons, and because the Quick Decon solution is 98% H2O, it passes straight through the resins with no negative effects. Download Brochure Request a Sample Each solution is ion-specific and specially prepared to address a specific chemical group. The QD Complete powder mix will pick up transition metals such as Cesium, Cobalt, Strontium, Chromium, Manganese, Iron, Zinc & Nickel. It will also pick up Actinides such as Plutonium, Uranium, Titanium, Technetium, Americium, Radium, etc. The Halogen (H) solution will pick up Iodine, Fluorine, Chlorine, etc Quick Decon Solutions Combo Wipes QD COMPLETE POWDER MIX Benefits Safe & quick ionic-focused solution for radiation removal Cost Effective Safe surface radiation isotope remover First line for safe radiation defense Can be used on intact human skin Environmentally friendly Far superior to Radiacwash or any other similar product Effective on 63 different elements Shelf life: Unlimited in powder form at STP (standard temp and pressures). Reconstitution with DI water - up to 60 days. Reconstitution with Dirty or tap water - up to 24 hours Download Brochure QD Complete Powder Mix QDS COMBO WIPES The core technology used in the QDS Combo Wipes is based upon the "Mass Effect" Principle. When the proprietary wipes, which are saturated with the decontamination solution, come in direct contact with ‘loose’ or ‘removable’ contamination on a surface, the radioactive material is ‘lifted’ from the material surface via the ion-exchange process. Like-property non-radioactive ions replace the radioactive ones. The radioactive ions/contamination is collected on the wipe and disposed of as radioactive waste. • Optoblok Optical Table Laser Guarding | RT Technologies

Optoblok is designed specifically to reduce the risk of stray laser beams being inadvertently directed at personnel in the laser optics laboratory. Optoblok - Optical Table Laser Guarding Download Brochure Get a Quote Optoblok, the Optical Table Laser Guarding System is designed specifically to reduce the risk of stray laser beams being inadvertently directed at personnel in the laser optics laboratory. This new modular system fits neatly on to optical tables to provide a 11.8” (300mm ) high wall. The system comprises of certified laser blocking walled panels, posts (to screw into the table) and channel posts which are either straight or right angled to connect the wall panels together. Modular Design The modular system is easily constructed by screwing the posts into the table, then slotting the straight or corner channel posts over the round posts and then simply placing the wall panels in position. Once the panels are inserted they can be secured by a retaining screw and washer on top of the post if required. Metric and imperial tables accommodated The system is compatible with both metric and imperial optical tables using metric or imperial screw threads and spacing, making this truly a worldwide compatible product covering both the US and European markets in one. Maintaining operator access The 11.8” (300mm) high wall around the perimeter of the table maximizes the opportunity for safe working while at the same time allowing virtually unlimited access to the table and its components. The opportunity for an engineers’ hand or arm to accidentally interfere with the laser beam is reduced as it now takes a deliberate act to access the table. Easy cable entry system with Optoblok Designer software One of the key benefits of Optoblok is that it provides a safe, adaptable, simple laser blocking walled system that enables cable entries to be made and then changed easily for the next set-up. It can easily handle, for example, large diameter control cables. Simple to use parts list compiler Download Worksheet Contact Us Contact Us
